Our Tannery

Pegia leather is made in our own tannery in Ergene, Tekirdağ — a region long known for its leather heritage. With more than twenty-five years of hands-on tanning experience, our team has spent decades refining a single thing: how to bring out the best in natural sheepskin.

That experience is why our leather feels the way it does. Soft where it should be soft, sturdy where it needs to last, and finished to a standard that holds up season after season.

Sheepskin is one of nature's most comfortable materials — and one of the hardest to get right. Done well, it's warm in winter, cool in summer, naturally breathable and remarkably soft against the skin.

Getting there takes patience. Each hide passes through careful stages — selection, cleaning, tanning, softening and finishing — every one adjusted by hand and eye. There are no shortcuts, because shortcuts show.

Our process is built around protecting two things at once: the leather side and the wool.

Selection: Every batch is sorted by wool length, density and skin quality, so the right hide goes to the right product.

Cleaning & preparation: Hides are gently washed to remove impurities while keeping the wool full and resilient.

Tanning: Carefully controlled recipes give the leather its softness, flexibility and lasting strength.

Dyeing & finishing: Colour, touch and texture are refined until the leather meets our standard — clean suede, even wool, no compromises.The result is leather that's ready to become something you'll wear for years.

Craft and responsibility go together. The dyes and chemicals used in our tannery come from trusted European suppliers, and our production follows European REACH standards, including current restricted-substance rules. We work to use water and materials carefully, reducing waste wherever we can — because leather made to last shouldn't cost the earth.

Tanning is only half the journey. Once the leather is ready, it moves to our own atelier — where skilled hands cut, shape and stitch each pair by hand.
