What Makes Sheepskin the Best Boot Lining?

It all comes down to three things that synthetic materials can't do at the same time. First, insulation: shearling fibres hold warm air against your skin, keeping you warm even when it's below freezing. Second, moisture management: the same fibres that wick sweat away from the foot also keep it from feeling damp and clammy, which is a common problem with synthetic-lined boots. Third, adaptability: shearling moulds to the unique shape of your foot over time, making it more comfortable the longer you wear it.

Our shearling is a by-product of the food industry, never sourced specifically for footwear. Every hide is processed in Turkey and selected for density and softness before it reaches our workshop.

What is the difference between sheepskin and shearling?

They refer to the same material. Sheepskin is the hide with its natural wool still attached. Shearling is sheepskin that has been tanned and processed with the wool left intact - it is the finished material you see lining our boots. Both terms describe a 100% natural product.

Are sheepskin boots only for winter?

They are at their best in cold weather, but shearling's natural temperature regulation means your feet will not overheat on milder autumn or early spring days. Many of our customers wear their sheepskin boots from October through to March.

How do I waterproof my sheepskin boots?

Apply a waterproofing spray designed for leather or suede before your first outdoor wear. Reapply every few weeks during heavy use. This creates an invisible barrier against rain and snow without affecting the material's breathability.

Do sheepskin boots need breaking in?

Very little. The shearling lining is soft from the first wear and gradually moulds to your foot shape within the first few days. We recommend choosing your regular size - the fit becomes more personalised naturally, without any uncomfortable breaking-in period.

Can I wear sheepskin boots in the rain?

Light rain is usually okay, especially if you use a spray to protect yourself. Our snow boots have tougher outsoles and extra water resistance for when it rains or snows for a long time.
